Make your website mobile friendly – or lose out

Mark Tomkins

Nothing more frustrating, is there? Searching for a product or service on your phone at the weekend on the sofa and you end up at a website that isn’t mobile friendly and you have to pinch and zoom to even read the words. Worse still is the site that has had a poor mobile version created and it’s missing half the information the main website has so you have to fire up the laptop (that will inevitably be low on battery after the kids have used it).

In October 2015, OfCom released their latest figures that showed that 62% of all UK internet searching was done from a mobile phone or tablet. The figures were a lot higher than predicted and a 48% increase on the previous year’s figure or 42%.

What it shows is a shift in web behaviour.

We now designing websites with the mobile in mind FIRST. In previous years we’ve designed and developed a website and then made a mobile version afterwards. Now, we’re researching the predicted user experience and journey and how they would use the site from their mobile phone to make sure the environment is nurturing and conducive to making the online sale or conversion.

Making the user’s journey and experience on the mobile phone is not one that can be automated or done by online ‘tools’ – it needs to be done by humans that will use the site as the real users would and so our team are expertly trained to create a mobile experience that will enhance and improve your online business presence.

What about an older website that doesn’t have a mobile version?

We have developed some clever coding techniques and added this to our experience and can now offer our mobile website conversion service to those sites that are a few years old but need to compete in the search landscape of those users surfing from their phone or tablet.
